If you had to share 1 thing.....

Find a friction device (hitch or mechanical) and rope combination that you absolutely, positively love. It should feel like you were born with it, and it does exactly what you want, when you want. Coming from MRS, everything will probably feel great at first, but that's just the start.
 
My only advice. Keep it simple stupid. SRT opens up a huge range of options that can make things so complicated it’s utterly dangerous or at best unproductive.

I personally base tie nearly 100% of the time when on SRT. I skip all the fancy base anchor stuff ( I have my defensible rational) and just tie with a backed up running bowline, and a alpine a few feet up.
I follow your lead to put an Alpine butterfly above a choking base-tie.

Mostly, if I have extra rope, I base-tie with the MacSwan method in the articles section. NO KNIFE release!
