Ideal Harness

Speaking of good saddles, l have climbed in Petzl Sequoia for the last five years. Great saddle, sometimes the legstraps pinch a bit, l am thinking of upgrading to a Buckingham Master 5.0. I notice how the legstraps are buckled high up on the thigh- crotch area instead of low on the thigh like the Petzl. I imagine the Buckingham might be more comfortable. Check out Buckingham Master 5.0, (Ken Palmer) on Utube. I would greatly appreciate and comments, advice on the matter. Thanks Treebuzz.
Buy a monkey beaver harness and be done with it, you’ll thank me later ! Best one out there right now

I have been a bit of a saddle whore for the last few years, and have flown most of the major contenders.
The TreeMo and the MB are my 2 favorites, and you just can't go wrong with either. The TreeAustria 3.2 is right there with them as far as comfort and function, but I don't know about durability on this one yet.

Thanks Deevo for your interest and suggestion. I don't like any saddle with a termination knot on the rope bridge, l like the fixed bridge style on the Buckingham, also the many rated loop tie-ins. I have a deep hankering for this saddle, l hope to hear from some climber who has worked in one, no offence intended, l welcome your feedback and all the response from the great wealth of knowledge and experience which the Treebuzzers bring with them.

Thanks Rico for sharing your thoughts and experience on being a saddle whore. I have an opened mind on saddle brands, but no termination knot bridge for me. I will pull the trigger on the Buckingham if l get just a little push. Thanks again for your time.

I tried the Master 5.0 for a few minutes a Baileys last year. A bit of a pinchy ball-buster, and I wasn't a fan.
Take a look at the Tree Austria 3.2. Rides like a TreeMo or MB, but has a nice beefy webbing bridge. Done about 10 removals with this saddle lately, and it is super comfy!

Thanks Rico, my eyes are watering reading your review on time spent in the Buckingham saddle 5.0 at Bailey's. Thanks again for your honesty and help, l will surely consider this

I’ve not used the TA, but two friends have had theirs for some time, and they seem to have held up fine. @rope-a-dope , would you weigh in?

Because the Ergo is modular, you have options for waist belt and bridge. Pictured is the waist best needed for the fall arrest. I use the croll quite a bit. Here it is pictured separate from the saddle. With this set up to meet ANSI requirements the carabiner must be one of the 16kN gate type. The same is true for any carabiner in a fall arrest system.

As for previous comments that suggested that any of the Buckingham harness do not meet ANSI Standards is B.S. I can't speak to CE standards, but see no reason they would not.

Tree austria has been very good to me, light but comfy and supportive. The latest model has large leg loops if you like that style. They dont tend to ride up or pinch for the most part. I changed the bridge to rope and rings, but thats just a personal preference, no problems with the shackles and webbing. The price is nice, too. Cant go wrong with the TA.

Do you find there is enough room for srt with the ascender that low on the harness?

Not sure what you mean. The Croll? I rarely use it as part of an SRT asent system. As for other positions on the harness, typically the lower you can have an ascender (within reason) the more upright the climber the more efficient. The extra loop at the waist is nice as it frees up the bridge and is closer to my waist.

I don’t really find myself using it much but I don’t use SRT for work positioning often, just canopy access and descent.
I just ordered one of August’s MB saddles cuz my Buckingham is getting kinda tired, and frankly it has always pinch my nuts in a long hang or rappel. Hopefully I can get the new one set up properly?

If I didn’t get the Ergo I would probably have tried the MB. My old Buckingham pinched my hips and nuts. This one is wonderful. I can hang in it all day.

I think I might have seen a video August posted on YouTube about setting up the Monkey/Beaver saddle. Just found it. Here's the link. Thanks.

For pure comfort the TA is hard to beat. It kind of combines the best of both the TreeMo and the MB, and fits my skinny ass perfectly Really enjoying my time with this saddle! We certainly are rich with saddle choices these days.
I finally decided to try a MB, I ordered one direct from August on his web site after chatting with him for 20 minutes while my wife was buttering up a client lol. The unfortunate part is New Tribeis having trouble keeping up with demand... aaaand they are currently being threatened by fire! So I wait?
