I cut down 2 small trees today

Here are pictures from 2 trees that I removed today for the city street department. I just have to get the trees on the ground and they do all the clean-up. /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice pictures Brian. I got the rest of this tree down today, and the last piece looks the same as yours. Today I left it with a snapped chain stuck on a nail or something. Yesterday I left it with bees all stirred up. Got a bunch of wood to hump tomm. Oh well. I got nothin but time. /forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif Still wish there was money for a crane.

Can you see the bees? I'm a scared of them. I've never ran into honey bees before. I flopped the log and found a bunch of honeycombs, and found the poor little guys weren't even aggressive. I thought they were hornets the way they were stirred up.

Bee accident, rather was accident: happened yesterday: one of my staff got stung by wasps, head and throat. Half an hour later he was in hospital to be treated: could not get any air. Scary stuff, quick help was there.
One never knows if one is allergic. Be careful and if you happen to be alergic ask for a prescription for an anti-dote injector, that you can apply on site.
This time of the year there is little natural food available, bees and wasps go for anything sugary. They can also get agitated by transpiration, scents of aftershaves, soaps and the like and also alcohol (go forbid).
Sweet spreads on your lunch will attract the critters as well. Be on guard.

John, that swarm looks like the one we left yesterday. we sprayed bee killer in it 3 nights in a row. (it's fun to foot lock at night) even after all that, on the last cut of the day they were swarming hard core. the cut was 5' above the upper hole on a lateral limb, but they found the exit and were bumping into me all the way down. thanks to thick callouses no burnt hands. that was a fast rappell. lots of tree left, but not for that day.
