Hydration

After wanting to Climb Tree's naked to beet this heet wave I had to find some way to keep hydrated wile up in the tree top's. I went to the camping supply store and bought a Cammle Back and I know there not a new thing but it's made all the difference in the world for me. I recomend one to any climber and for 22 doller's you can't go wrong!

I use just a gatorade bottle tied up with a assecorie cord. Roachy was laughing at me the other day when he saw me stop for a sip or two. I told him at least I wasn't wearing a cammel pack. I would rather take the drink than not have it and pay the price of heat exhaustion and cramps. I had it once I never felt so bad than I did that night. Do what you gotta do.

I've considered a camel back, right now I hang a small insulated thermos on by back ring. Here in FL you must stay hydrated or you can get into trouble quick. Nice thing about the camel back is that long straw thing, no screwing around with a flip top or taking it off the biner. I bet a whole crew would be more productive with one. Add it to my list of gadgets to buy...

Be careful not to get the reconstituted version or pasteurized. They are worthless. IMO.

I've wanted to use my camelback while climbing for a long time now but just haven't due to it getting hung up on thick canopy. How does your camelback perform in this sense, and what model camelback are you using. I know some models are sleeker than others and the one I have may not be a good choice because the carrier is one the bigger ones I use for mountain biking.

camelback issues in tree are minimal. chainsaw gets hung up way more...

Thanks for reminding me about the one I have, used it when I raced dirt bikes in the desert.
Couple of days ago I was doing a canopy clean, took water in the tree with me but it went fast, I was soaking wet from sweat, got busy working and cutting out dead wood in the Georgia heat and humidity, all of a sudden realized I was hurting and had to get down. It is amazing how that can sneak up on you when you are focused and occupied with staying alive.
Next time I'll have my CamelBack.
