Husky 372

I am considering buying a couple Husky 372 xp's. I was just looking for some opinions from people who know about them or have a few.

Several people have told me they are a bad saw with a 24" bar, including a saw shop owner who runs a logging mill.

Any help would be gr8ly appreciated!!!

At the company that i work for we have six of them. All of them are used everyday, and can take a beaten. All have held up extremely well. HOWEVER, we are very careful to keep a nice sharp chain, and good bar, as well as a clean air filter. (plus all the other normal up keeps)
It is my opinion that this is a great saw to have. It is powerful enough for all of our needs. We run 20" bars on all of them, and for anything over 20" we use a 575 or a 392.

What will you be doing with this saw?

Thank you for your help, Tom and Royce.

Buckin wood. The old man, whos name is JW, Runs a saw shop, is a logger and runs a logging mill.

He said they will smoke a 441 stihl, but not an 446. But he said that with a 24" bar you can buck more wood in a day than with an 046 because of the weight difference. I have to admit, I have two 046 and could not believe the weight difference. The 372 is even lighter than a 441 or an 046. Plus, He said after 4 or 5 tanks of gas, to bring it back in and he can hop it up a little.

For along time I have been stuck on stihl. But I am beginning to realize that several brands have some bad [bad word] saws. I got tired of people(climbers) Tearin up 0200's so I bought a couple of 338xpt's and have not been disappointed. All of my medium saws are shindaiwa 488's and I would put them against any saws in their range. My tangent is just to let everyone know that I am venturing out and wanting to use The saws that are the cream of the crop regardless of brand!!!

Thank you guys so much for the help!!!

In case you cant tell, I love beer!!

I've had 2 372XP's. One got stolen out of the back of my truck (it had a heated handle[XPG]), so I bought another 1 (no heated handle). Both had/have 24" bars. It'll outcut anything in it's class. The power to weight, anti-vibe and air flow system are great. I run semi-skip chain on it. I definitely would purchase another 1 if this 1 gets swiped.

You cant compare a 372 (Huskys best saw ever, IMO) to a 441. Different saws completely. Comparing the 372 to the 575 (Same power!) is not justified either, different designs. Its tough to compare Huskys to Stihls as they jump CC's. That being said......

372 is a great saw! I prefer the feel of a Stihl in my hands, but we own 10-20 372's and I have 40 or more in storage down at the Stihl/Husky shop for sale, that should tell you something.

Put a new powerhead on a scale next to a 440 and the 372 is heavier, next to a 460 almost even! Husky likes to bluff their weights for some reason!?

Go for it, get the 372!

I use a 372 with 24" bar full time, no complaints at all. It has ridiculous longevity. The 394 with 28" bar stays in the truck unused sometimes for 3 weeks at a time. The 372/24" can take down 95% of the trees in CT IMO. The air filter system can go sometime weeks without cleaning and saw still performs perfectly.

Never tried the Shihls but I would figure anything by either co. is going to be good, except for Husky 335s.

We have a 372xp at the arboretum, great saw. Run a 28" bar on it, and it handles most of the softer woods here in the tropics more than fine.

You will have to run to keep up with this saw! My brother has one, the XPG stolen out of Norm's truck. It's a great saw with a 20"-24" bar and a semi-skip.

Buy 2!

The Jonsered cs2171 is exactly the same saw, well not exactly..... it has a red outer casing and the handle at the front is at right angles to the saw body whereas the 372xp's handle is slightly skeewiff to the body.

I shoulda known when the cops spotted the Dependz wrapper near my truck. They specically asked me if I knew anyone who was Dependz dependent. Of course I said yes, but he resided in an assisted living home and couldn't wonder far cause of his condition.

I bought a 372xpg recently from Walkers Saw Shop, and had it Walkerized.
So far I've been very happy with it.
Good power to weight ratio.
The saw has a good "work horse" reputation around here.
