does anyone know how to do a muffler modification on the husky 359? I know that you need to adjust the high/low setting but there are "tabs," on the adjuster preventing more than a half turn - how do I combat this?

The tabs should simply slide off with a firm tug. The shafts holding them are splined and slotted for a screwdriver.

You may also just want to take a razor and trim the tabs off. Quick job,

I've modded many mufflers the 359 isn't all that bad..........if it is a non E-tech muffler!


If you have the non E-tech muffler all I did was take a metal holesaw and cut a hole in the front and thru the baffle inside. I then mig welded a washer with a screen on the front. Make sure that you deburr all the cut edges and thoroughly clean out the muffler. The 359 really wakes up with this mod and you will need to richen up the carb. Any more question feel free to ask!!!

The same technique applies to the E-tech muffler also. It just has an additional plate inside (if memory serves. The hard part is not the drilling it is being able to get in there and smoothout the burrs on the cut ends!!!
