Husky 346XP or Husky 359?

Given the option of one or the other?

I've used both and the 346XP feels a tad lighter but maybe slightly less power? Not sure exactly of the specs, but they seem pretty comparable.

Not me.

I haven't used or seen the 359. If you are using a 16" bar and working the ground, maybe the 359 is the ticket. Is it like the 353 at all? I will agree that the 346 is a great all around saw. Sometimes the price can be a factor in which saw you get.

I keep 2 372's in my (clam)truck and 1 362. Almost always I pull out the 372 with a 20" bar because I like the power. When I cut I want to cut.

Lets compare apples to apples. If you're doing tree work professionally always get the "xp" model. Less power but such a better saw. 359 would be an okay ground saw.

I have owned both and only have the 346xp so that should tell you which one I think is better. I run stihl saws but have one husky 346 xp and love it. In my opinion it is the number one saw for crane use.

The 359 is a good saw, but it's the non pro version of the 357XP. It puts out 3.9 hp, but the 346XP NE is rated at 3.7 or 3.8, and about 1.5 pounds lighter.

I don't run stock saws, but if i did, I'd get a 346 or 357. I have both, but they are woods modded. If you were to buy a 359 and get it ported, it would out cut a ported 357, according to my builder Ed Heard.

Stock saws are boring, after running modded saws!

I just bought a 346XP NE. I'm going to give it a big thumbs up. So far it easily replaces about 2/3 of what my 441 does and the weight savings is GREAT.

That's my first Husky, but the dealer is a real gem so I'm likely to lean in that direction in the future.

I'll second that.

The 346xp is a wonderful little saw. I have ms200's,026,44's,66's,88's and am happy to have 3 346xp's to keep the others honest.
Get it, you wont regret it. (and we pay over $1000 us dollars for them here)

I have both a 359 and 357xpg, both with ported mufflers and 24" bars.
While I've never had any trouble with the 359 the 357xpg is definitely my favorite of the two as it has more hp.
Very nice saw for it's weight and size.
