hurt feelings data sheet

It is just a thing Royce I am still a newbie to the wonderful world of posting and made a mistake of not considering the ramifications of my actions something in the canopy would have got me dead real fast I should be applying the same rules to this medium and consider my body positioning before cutting that piece, trust the little voice it rarely lies to you.
no this is someone else's house and I need to keep in mind that I am a guest, not paying the rent here and we will all get along too sweet.
Just because I feel that wyo's avatar looks like he is fisting a log doesn't make him a bad person nor will I hold grudges
life is too short for childish ways the kipling poem is my mantra in life my biggest enemy is myself and my bad side as X-man called it likes to saddle up as August rightly stated and let loose with the under and over a lesson I will continue to work on.
no I just wish to wrap this up now, not going to keep a list or any such nonsense just as long as the point is clear I was coming from my perspective/context as you have experienced first hand in NZ working with some fine fellows, everything after that
well let cooler heads prevail my hot headedness is not what is needed around here.
Our Family motto " strength through persistence" the crest is a jackass :D

You brought it here and posted it on TreeBuzz. If there are less women contributing regularly to TreeBuzz, you can thank these types of posts. I would like to see moderators remove this type of garbage.

The proper action would be to apologize and remove the post. If I were a moderator, that's exactly what you would be required to do. Otherwise you would be banned. Arborist forums have no obligation to give those espousing misogynistic/anti-homosexual/hateful views a platform to spew ignorance camouflaged as comedy.

It all began with this assclown who looks like a Nazi in his avitar. OOOooow...IF I WAS A MODERATOR (you're not so stfu)...then...YOU WOULD BE REQUIRED TO APOLOGIZE OR REMOVE THE POST ...OR ...I...WOULD BAN YOU.

This is then followed by his personal skewed take on the subject. And then his expectations of reinforcements in the form of the forum owner appears (as per usual) so the WE WILL GET EM if they don't conform , begins to take a reality.

Libs are so small and pathetic and rely on the "we will get em" factor. But when it all washes out...usually it is them that gets it. See Paris France as a reference.

I've got some things to say...
I could spend a good long time writing out detailed responses on each point, but I'll just content myself with little morsels to outline my points rather than support them fully.

1. Women and Men are equal and complementary. We both have our limitations and our strengths. Women excel where men do not and men kind of fill in where women are lacking. Together we populate and support the many functions on God's green earth. Just look at a baby: How has a woman contributed to that tiny creation...how has a man? If you ask me, the woman has a much harder job in this joint project. My wife and I have four kids and we work together on raising them, to the best of our abilities, to be useful members of society. I'm using this example as it is foremost in my life right now, but I see my wife's strengths everyday in how we raise our children. Emotion is a strength she uses...it is not a weakness. The emotion and love she brings is different than what I bring, but I definitely have emotion and love too. Furthermore, my wife is smarter than I am, but I have a different construction and method in my thought that lends itself to solving problems...past, present, and future. We work together, forever!

2. Jokes and humor: What makes a joke funny? Jokes have to be based on something that is true...and then it is twisted. There has to be something in the joke that everyone understands and is familiar with to establish the foundation and then it is twisted to be contrary to that truth. It is not the truth and it should not be taken seriously. Unfortunately, there is usually someone or something that is the butt of the joke. Can that person/group/race/gender handle the pressure? At this point it becomes a question of whether it is polite to use that sort of humor.

3. I can't win these days... If I hold a door for a woman or if I don't: What! I was raised to respect women and come to their aid if I could help! Help them lift something, hold the door for them, etc. But I have seen it go both ways with all the silliness out there today. If I don't hold the door - "What a chauvinistic pig!" If I do hold the door - "What, you think I need your help?" Don't worry, there are plenty that still appreciate it, but my point is that we have lost something with all the improving we've done over the years.

Why can't we see that men and women are different but equal? We each have our strengths and our weaknesses. We should support each other and work together. Laugh at ourselves and at each other with each other.

Some one say racism? I'll stick my shovel in the septic tank and stir...see what floats up.

So blacks can have a whole pride month? Right sounds good...I have no problem with pride of ones heritage. Irish (ginger) pride is ok too. Wait, every pride is ok I guess, just not white (Caucasian). Mention white pride and you will be called racist. Am I missing something?

Don't buy it...as a whole men and women are far from equal. We are supposed to pretend we are. Don't get me wrong. I have the utmost respect for women. I've been with my wife 16 years we have two kids. This is a mans world, has been for a long time. Men engineered it for a long time. We live in a small percentage of the world and history of humankind where women are allowed to think they can do whatever they want, and I have no problem with them trying. Gonna take at least few thousand years of this though for things to balance out.

Well, I just read this to my wife John. I think she likes you now. She asked for your phone number and address but I declined :)

Not much more that can be said on this topic as that was perfectly put. I agree.

Being equal doesn't mean we can do the same things.
True in a sense of the word.
I guess we have two forms of equality here. One of which I believe in equality for all humans no matter sex or race, with regards to respect, freedoms, and other basic human rights.

The other... Well white males own and run the show currently.

The muddling of the word, which I'm not accusing you of, I guess I was guilty of that by not being specific.... is an underlying problem with the struggles of attaining equality.

Yes you are correct ..."equal but different"...like any two humans really.

I ADMIRE women. I am at times dumbfounded in my admiration of my wife although seldom surprised by it anymore.

From an ole timer's perspective it might be more apparent that YES "the times they are a changing".

Blacks were (and still are in many ways) oppressed. But worthwhile to note...nothing by THIS GENERATION compared to previous generations. I had the same discussion recently on facebook with a liberal friend of mine who is a real estate salesman and grew up in the town I now live in and lived in back in the mid 60's. He is adamant that oppressive and overt racism is part of the day to day fabric today. I pointed out to him that back in the mid 60's , although we went to the same school with blacks (unlike a decade prior in this town where there were seperate schools)...they were not at the weekend social get togethers with us and their families only lived in a very small distinct section of this small town and their job opportunities were few and far between.

This has all changed. I wouldn't want to live in a neighborhood or town with no blacks and especially would not want my children, I have 4, to live there either. Things have changed so much it is striking. Sure there have been edicts that have ushered this in but I believe most people were dying for these changes to come and for that to happen the previous generation of parents and grandparents...had to leave or be removed from being the shot callers. But all these liberals, coming in on the coat tails of all this change feel they have to push when pushing is not even a positive thing anymore. And any good thing, like much of welfare and social assistance...will surpass the positive status it seeks and become a negative. It has in almost all facets of social change now in my opinion. How much does the offspring of the guilty party have to pay? How much can they stand to pay when they really cannot pay anymore? Counter discrimination is just as bad and hypocritical.

Anyway, back to women...Like blacks, women have historically jumped on the back of the bandwagon whenever protests and riots have erupted as I have witnessed. But like white men have actually had their foot on the heads of black people in the past...men have had their foot on the heads of women...and they were/are fed up. Seeing black people flourish and intermingle socially with whites is very enjoyable to me. Although I do not like Obama, I really like the social blending that his being elected has promulgated. Again...much more noticeable to an ole timer with years to reference. It was way overdue for a black to be in the White House. As for women, I see them running businesses and holding political offices and on boards and just anywhere they want to be now and with no impunity...except from the small percentage that sticks out of bigots...but they will always be around.

It is interesting in the field of sports just how far women have come now that it is acceptable for them to have some previously considered "manly traits". I can sit and watch entire professional tennis matches as now they play "just like men". They have done (previously considered) manly training, practiced their asses off and have gained an aggressive nature. And there is nothing to do but admire that in conjunction with all the other positives they had in their lives prior to this "evolution".

I have raised 3 girls, now women in their mid 30's, 2 of them with Phd's and working as psychologists. The other one a hard working woman that doesn't take any shit from anyone. They are people to be reckoned with (not just women) and that is just what I intended them to be.

Will, thanks. I like her for liking me!
I had my wife read over it before I posted it to make sure I got things right. Without her approval I am nothing!

frashdog, I thought that's what you were after. I was going to say something to clarify which 'equal' I was concerned with, but I thought I would leave it ambiguous.

treevet, nice comparison. You share an experienced account that I can't say I was witness to. Great perspective. I especially like your point of pushing too far and how that starts very quickly to undo and work against all that was good about the movement.

I am not in any means a sensitive person. I am however someone who values women. I feel that is blatant dis-respect to women. So if someone is weak, or is emotional they are a women, like being a woman is a bad thing? I just find it discouraging that to build up our MEN, we must tear down our WOMEN.
Now, I know it was meant as a joke. But that is the beginning of the machismo attitude that I hate. I won't even get started on the whole Queer thing. That form will never have a place in my company or business.

Please refer to post #1.

Just kidding.

I would never imply such a thing Royce!o_O

This is some he said she said BS!

Trying to have a little fun here and you DEBBIE DOWNERS have to come along and... :baaa:

Why does it have to be Debbie Downer? It could be Danny Downer, you know. Implying that to be a downer you have to be female is just the same old, sexist crap.

Just kidding, again.

See my older sister here in this picture?

Hey, David! I know you said a lot of really important stuff in this post that I left out and failed to comment on. Please forgive me, but I was awestruck by your sister's beauty, and being a red-blooded American male, I lost my ability to think clearly after that point. No offense intended.

Great essay X.
I adore stereotypes. There is a reason that comedians have such a blast with stereotypes. Because they are funny and things that are the funniest are often true. Truth is stranger than fiction. I can say that I agree with the main points of your writing here. Mainly, that to be quickly and easily offended is a sign of temporary or chronic emotional immaturity. Everyone will be guilty of it at times, but some, far more frequently.
It's a slippery slope though because, if you are one who quickly confronts, then, it could be said that you are quickly offended on some level.
So, if you are one who often feels like you need to set people straight and maybe blast them with both barrels of the shotgun of truth then you might actually be one of the easily offended types that you loathe, but just in a less weasley way.
I thoroughly enjoyed your writing here by the way. I have basically the same view of society nowadays.
I don't necessarily agree with the delivery of all of it.
A person can be more diplomatic than you without being a politician, not that politicians are ALWAYS evil. There, you see, that was an example of diplomacy. I actually like you the way you are though. It takes all kinds ;-)
The "truth" is that everyone posting here will have some valid points and there is peace in overlooking what we disagree with (within reason) and highlighting commonality.

August, this was a really great post, and you are a thoughtful and eloquent human being. Having said that there is one part of the post I must comment on.

You said "to be quickly and easily offended is a sign of temporary or chronic emotional immaturity." To that I say, "I know you are, but what am I?"

Sincerely,

Tim
