hurt feelings data sheet

what like I said here "sorry if you are offended please ask the admin to pull this thread forthwidth it seems Aussie humour doesn't translate to other parts of the tree working community worldwide, guess we are troglodytes still well behind the times even though we gave women the vote the first country in the western world to do so back in 1890."

I am going to show this thread to a female kiwi climber a stout maori girl named Shelly with the traditional face tattoos and then record her reaction to what you have written here my bet is she says something like" don't be such a dickhead"
How bout it Glenn $50.00 says she dismisses your argument out of hand?

I would encourage you to walk into any professional place of employment; a place that employs women and hang your data sheet on the wall. Then tell me what type of reaction you get. Asking one women does not give you the opinion of many. Also, I would be interested to see what well educated, respected women have to say on this manner. Don't base an opinion on a whole sex on one representative.

You brought it here and posted it on TreeBuzz. If there are less women contributing regularly to TreeBuzz, you can thank these types of posts. I would like to see moderators remove this type of garbage.

Arborist forums have no obligation to give those espousing misogynistic/anti-homosexual/hateful views a platform to spew ignorance camouflaged as comedy.

Spot on, and well said!!

Tom Dunlap- I am not claiming the 1st amendment right to free speech though we could touch on the issue if you like,
the context is that in both industries our workplaces are by their nature dangerous places to be and that forms a certain gallows like humour as a tool to compensate for the human psyche, it is an age old phenomena well documented.
if that parallel is not relevant then perhaps the term gallows humour won't strike home. If the general consensus is that this document is offensive based on your particular gender assignment and for no other valid reason then why would treetop flyer's wife find it so funny when she by all accounts having borne three children thus demonstrating her right to be called a women and surely a moral compass by which we can all be guided? because the context of which the reader is in will dictate their reaction not their particular gender, it is about the individual to decide what is amusing or not that is why the provision for sarcasm and parody in comedy to allow for the use of material outside the context in which it was originally presented.

And I took the time at length to explain this and offered to the individuals if it was so offensive then take it down but now I find a cursory tale about a fiery wolf kinda alluding to I should do this myself anyway.
so where does that leave us hate crimes v lol some find it funny and others do not - story of life my friends get use to it this is how it works in case you have not noticed so far if you do not have a reasonably thick skin and the ability to turn the other cheek from time to time then maybe being a tree worker is more a office job than a real job.

you did get the part about Shelly being a women? we laugh when she works new recruits they can't keep up with her she is a intelligent and talented climber in her own right not because of her sex, it comes down to her attitude the will to succeed drive ambition work ethic the person who judges based on outward appearances or sex or clothing choice is the real villains we accept people for who they are and what they offer not shallow pandering, I could ask many Australian south african and new zealander women what they think and the reactions will be mixed just as if I asked the same in zimbabe or upper mongolia,
again it is about the context - humour whether disagreeable or not is about the individuals context as to whether the subject will be humorous to them.
why will I be judged on my actions now and in the future based on a mildly offensive at best bit of tat.
PS I showed this to a Gay Tasmanian Aboriginal man and he laughed thought it was a riot and wanted a copy for his building site. guess it wasn't racist since skin colour happens to both sexes.

I am not in any means a sensitive person. I am however someone who values women. I feel that is blatant dis-respect to women. So if someone is weak, or is emotional they are a women, like being a woman is a bad thing? I just find it discouraging that to build up our MEN, we must tear down our WOMEN.
Now, I know it was meant as a joke. But that is the beginning of the machismo attitude that I hate. I won't even get started on the whole Queer thing. That form will never have a place in my company or business.
Royce, no one's tearing down women here, we're tearing down men that act like women.

Anyway Stihlmadd... I like the form...

Really Glenn, you pulled the whole moderator thing, again... making a big deal out of nothing.

It's the tree-free zone for goodness sake man!:frenetico:

If you're tearing down men that ACT like women, then you're tearing down women. Your implying that to be a women is not as good as being a man. That was what my original post was about. I have said my piece on this subject. Let your conscience be what it may.

Tree freezone
If it's not tree-related, this is where to post it. Here you'll find topics on just about anything, and once in a while, some good intelligent conversation. Be warned - this forum may not be for the thin skinned!
it even comes with a warning at the main page!

no I don't feel that rape is acceptable in any circumstance or based on the type of workplace but equally if you are implying that this is solely the domain of australian men then you need to meet some of the shelias over here who work every day in the armed forces the mines on the farms and walk the beat, heck I know of one family whose five brothers wouldn't dream of taking on their sister in a fair fight and she has no formal training in any kind of fighting arts.
what is or is not swinging between your legs is no indicator of your ability to perform at a physical level your personal level of pain tolerance or the extent to which you are personally offended by a thing. this form is only designed to get a laugh in a sector where men and women serve in a combat role together side by side in a culture from a country where sledging each other over stuff is a national past time and our former prime minister holds a international drinking title for the consumption of beer a subject which is met with equal parts embarrasment and pride.

I didn't single out Aussies in the slightest, it's a problem everywhere. The problem is that a misogynistic attitude and worldview promotes sexual assault. I don't give a shit if you think it's funny. As a father, husband , brother and friend I think that bullshit like this is the root of the problem. I've known far too many women, whether they were "tough" or not who have experienced sexual assault.
So no, I don't take that shit lightly.
Am I offended by it or do I have "hurt feelings"? Fuck no. Claiming that calling you out on misogynistic bullshit means we are too sensitive is a commonly used defense mechanism for someone who's crossed a line.
And by the way, the Wyoming Territory gave women the vote in 1869.

Guys/Gals, this is just Stihlmadd's way of saying, "Keep your whining in check." That's it. If you censurers have your way, nobody will ever be able to say anything. You may need to fill out the form. Just saying....

"In trying to please all, he had pleased none." Aesop

thats cool but people do not seem to be getting it and I like that Wyoming gave women voting rights before us gives a sense of perspective as to what was occurring in the state at the time nice.
IT isn't about your current sexual assignment it is about the type of person you are under pressure and whether you can be relied upon to zip it and get on with the task at hand then deal with the whens and whys the problem occurred later in the day when it is more appropriate. if the implication that behaving in a certain manner is a attribute that can only be the sole possession of one sex is wrong then has every crossdresser in history been going around deliberately offending the sex that they have been imitating.
context people get it it's about context so stop confusing the sex role in the equation I can equally demonstrate that being weak is not the exclusive province of one sex or another heck I just went and mopped the floors while this was going on and next I have some washing to do no sexual confusion there based on gender stereotypes just some dirty work that needs to be done by some warm body.

If that's what you want to say, go for it. Say that. Don't post a form like that and then claim it's taken out of context. As was pointed out, if you are tearing down men for acting like women, then you imply that women are inferior to men. I'm sorry but that simply can't be taken out of context. If that was not your meaning, then find another fucking way to say it.
