Well it has been a while since I have got on to the site.
All has been well here in Montana. We are still working even though this cold weather has has really put the hurtin' on the equipment, but at least the guys still have a solid workload that has kept them in good spirits. Now that the holidays have past we are looking at the heavy work load that we have ahead of us for 2009. Glad that the work has held out, with the economy in the shape it is in.
I am still looking for 1-2 people that have the right attitude and a high level of drive to work here. If there were anytime to apply it would be now.
We are under a new collective bargaining agreement that has boosted the wages 4% this year and 5% the next 2 years.
One other reason to think about getting an application in here is because of the economy. I am from the private sector and I have found over the last 23 yrs. is that when the economy tanks, one of the last things people think about is the health of their tree's. It makes sense too, trim tree's or make a home payment? This is the way it goes. Arborists are hit pretty hard. Maybe not first, but certainly at some point.
Asplundh was formed during the Great Depression. The Asplundh brothers found a nitch in the economy. They discovered that electricity was still in demand regardless of the economic state. With that, they realized that there was a need for the utility companies to provide reliable powerand were in need of some way to relieve the problem of tree's interfereing with the reliability of that power. So these brothers decided to give them what they needed. Utility tree trimmers. This company grew form that in the mist of the hardest economic crisis the nation has ever seen. Why? Infrastructure! There will always be a need to maintain our most basic components of civilized living standards. Power, Water, Sewer. These are the basics.
Asplundh has made a science of safe reliable utility arboriculture. We provide a service for the utility companies. One that is necessary. We are needed daily by the utilities to keep them in the confines of federal laws that govern their reliablity standards. This is why this Tree Company has lasted almost eighty years. How many Tree Companies do you know of that have that kind of history?
We work in infrastructure. That alone makes our jobs secure. I am not saying that our jobs aren't prone to some reduction of manpower, but there is no way the utilities can afford to get rid of us entirely.
You think about that for a while. Maybe your workload is looking a little meek right now. If it is, we are still running strong and still putting crews together everywhere.
Not just in Montana, but every where!
Like I said in the beginning of this post. I need 1-2 of the best guys that I can find. You can call me or email me a resume, anytime.
