Howard hitch

All the instructions I can find are in german. I speak a bit of german, but thats probably not the case for everybody else. a picture is worth a thousand words, no matter what language, right?

Thats right, Sounds irresponsible but when I tell beginers how to tie their climbing hitch i just say "wrap and twist it around the rope some kind of way, doesnt really matter too much how... long as it works."

Its pretty hard to tie a hitch that doesnt work as long as there is a few wraps going on with a couple of twists thrown in. Its too complicated to be like "this is a swabish, this is a distel, this is a tk, this is a michoacan, this is a vt, this is an xt, this is a howard.... I have noticed very slight differences in the function of all these hitches. whatever catches is fine by me.

Based on the photos in the link provided by rfwoodvt it looks like a closed hitch.

Edit- Hmmm... Lumberjackson version is an open hitch? The other two are closed. Note that the twist in Trees_Please's pdf version is opposite direction.
