If that's what it smells like to you, then I don't blame you.I don’t drink, don’t like it. Fermented oak pee smells the same to me.
I’m guessing being full of moisture and sometimes hollow as well in the high summer temps they ferment.
there's no face.. just a kerf undercut.. certain to pinch your saw well before getting anywhere close to failure.fair enough, but I guess you better hope that you find sound wood when you cut that face out
nice cut ballsy. WHat were you pulling with. That lookes like a lot of back weight to overcome...
8,000lb diesel 4x4, 80-100’ of 1.25” tow rope. A little luck and a little experience carried over from offroad recovery. Slow roll, then roll into the throttle as the the slack takes up, but no crazy jerking or spinning. I knew it wouldn’t hinge and had side lean, so momentum was the way. You can see it start to head left.nice cut ballsy. WHat were you pulling with. That lookes like a lot of back weight to overcome...
I thought it might have been a heavier truck. Saw the fat line which is nice, so there is no concern about breaking the rope. And with that much length, the stretch helps out a little. You definitely had some pedal finess going.8,000lb diesel 4x4, 80-100’ of 1.25” tow rope. A little luck and a little experience carried over from offroad recovery. I didn’t want to rig it down and the shed didn’t really matter. Got lucky with just enough not too rotten wood. I cut the compression side first and got tot he tension side and there wasn’t much there. One time where it would have been better to start there, or sample both sides first. Might not have been a good idea to back off tension but I knew I needed momentum since I wasn’t using the 6x6.
