How Much You Weigh Going Up?

I weigh 140 in jeans and T. Bored and curious so I weighed myself dressed to climb this time of year - full PPE, chainsaw pants, saddle, lanyard and acabbard but without chainsaw and not counting the weight of the climbing line either - 165 pounds. Maybe it would be 5 less in summer.
How much extra do you guys haul up not including chainsaw?

in winter i way 200 with out chain saw.
in summer i way 180 with out saw. I lose weigh becouse i don't hit the gym as much in the summer and doing more cardio while working.

I like the winter to build more mass and then strip it down for the climbing season.

Do probably 80% of my climbing in the winter. I'm 150-155 in street clothes, I'd say with layers and gear going up in winter I'm probably adding another 15-20lbs tops. Couldn't get enough layers on today though, spent nearly 6 straight hours in a 90' cottonwood with a 60-70' spread pruning for 1" dead and cabling......it was 15 degrees with winds gusting 40-50mph. :-(

I've plumped right up this winter, I'm at 200, normally 185. With my gear now, I'd probably push 210.

I agree, Goodaking, its good to pack a few on in the winter, especially if you live in a cold area, and then drop it in the summer.

I don't drink but one soda every month or so...so I can't help you. Sorry. I'm 196 in street clothes and don't even want to think about what I weigh in full gear. I REALLY want to get back to 185lbs. Any suggestions besides the obvious. Feel like such a fatass.

The main factor about loosing weight is watching what you eat. Yes I know it's very hard to have a good diet, But if you set your mind to do it, it will get acomplished. Laying of off fried food, chips, soda and sweets makes a huge difference. Having grilled food, veggies, fruits and Lots of water will lead to weight loss. And of course theres more to al this. I gained a lot of weight when I stopped having a good diet, lacked of exercise and eating late. Now I'm in the process of loosing all that and some...

I went 'cold-turkey' about 6-7 years ago. It was a biatch but don't miss it now ... of course a little single-malt, straight-up, helps me get by, LOL.

Anyway, ~190lbs year-round = ~200lbs warm climb ... ~210lbs coldest wear (without 200t)

well losing weight isn't going to help your climbing cause it sux; plus your head is so fat i really don't see how you get it in a hardhat, fatty.

dude what are you talking about? if your fat, then i need jenny craig on an emergency conference call right now. But your climbing does suck, so watch your fat head and quit eating so many twinkies and coka colas

if weighted 196 i would be a machine.... hummm no i would look anorexic. whiz eat a sandwich and do some more pull ups, both will do more good than trying to lose a few pounds. are you climbing in the geezers?

I'm at 205lb, full gear I would say 212lb and that's w/a small saw ... I'm trying to cut down to 190lb before the SD comp

126 lbs.

Gear, boots, chainsaw pants, and soaking wet: 138 lbs.

I tiptoe through the tulip tree tips.
Instead of footlocking, I just tie in, wait for a strong breeze, and then jump.
I don't use a friction hitch - just drop my running end through an aluminum ring and that's enough to hold me in the tree.
If I need a bosun seat, I just slip both legs through one of the loops on my Sequoia.
I once got caught by a band of starving cannibals, but they threw me back.
I was in the top of a big sugar maple once, and a family of robins adopted me - tried shoving worms down my throat and everything.
I use Zing-It as a climbing line.

165 here. hanging off my saddle is, figure 8, 2 nylon slings, handsaw and scabbard, 12' lanyard with 2 carabiners and adjuster, accessory caribiner, cedaroth blood stopper pouch and a beeline i2i with micro pully and 2 carabiners. saddle and gear add about 12 pounds so geared up i weigh about 175lbs but with my climbsaw im looking at 185.

also remember guys, your rope can add up to 10 pounds extra to your overall weight.
