horrific reminder of the dangers of high voltage

Re: Darwin at work

I can look at those pics on any forum there posted on and this isn't the first of them , doesn't offend or sicken me a bit what so ever , that is a just some of God's selective pruning thats all .... And as far as tree related they have more too do as a stern reminder of the power of electricity , I have some pics of a man with his tongue frozen to a flagpole I was gonna post but I am thinking twice now ...

MarquisTree: Good on ya for standing your ground and adapting to keep the focus where it should be. Yes, these pics are harsh, but used in the appropriate forum and manner they are another training tool. Most do not need this type of tool to get the point, but some do. As long as one has the option to not look I think it is fine to offer it.

There are some graphic shots of chainsaw injuries out there that will get the guys in chaps and pay more attention. I think they are appropriate as well.

Re: Darwin at work

I'm with Marqius on this one. We are in a dangerous one mistake business. We are all one mistake away from death or serious injury. Look at all the fatalities in Tree Care Industry magazine every month. I will do anything to keep my guys going home alive and intact, be it showing them graphic pictures of what can happen, reviewing my own mistakes in a safety meeting or quite frankly whatever to keep them safe. I also am constantly reminding my guys to be aware. The world is a harsh place. I have know some good tree guys that have gotten seriously hurt by letting their guard down for one cut. As owners we have the moral responsibilty to educate our guys so that they can go home alive. Thanks for the photos- I'm going to show them to my crew this morning and have an ehap talk.
Cheers!

Re: Darwin at work

Actually DJM as owners we have a legal responsibility to educate our crews because too many owners believe in situational morality.
