Hitch Climber pulley

I was wondering how many of you have and use the Hitch Climber Pulley.

Is it everything they say it it?
Do you use the set-up recommended?
Any limitations?

I am able to purchase one at a pretty good discount, but it still is pretty pricey. I just wanted to get some opinion from people who have them.

Thanks

Thanks Fairfield,
Noticed you're in Bucks Co. I'm in State College. Did you go to the symposium in Lancaster?

Na, I wanted to but was unable do to work. Are you a student out there or live out there? Well worth buying a hitch climber thou, it's very nice to have that one central connection point.

I work for a tree service in State College. You didn't miss much at the symposium. A few good speakers and a lot of banter.
Thanks for the info on the hitch climber.

the HC is worth it. hope it gets cheaper tho cause I want another one but I dont know if having two is worth it. that second one would have to get used a lot and not set around waiting to get misplaced.

I noticed that they have a new version out called the Rapide. It has roller bearings that are supposed to increase the efficiency.

Do you use it for any other applications other than a tending pulley?

Myself, I have found it very handy for one man rescues (not to say I like the idea of one man rescues), and also for lifting objects to your work station. Then again I use it for more then just tree work. It is nice that you can build onto your system off of it.

Anyone use it for rescues or rescue trainings? I'm interested in what other set-ups you folks came up with besides the basic tending set-up and rescues that they show in the manual.

This sounds like a very versatile piece.

What friction hitches and material does everyone use with this?

I have used it for some rescue stuff in the past I think I have some pics of it during use I will see if I can find them. I have tried it out with litter rigging, highlining, pick off.

Buy It! the price realy isn't that bad for such a nice peice of gear. I was in your shoes thinkin the same thing. It's worth it.

I'm currently climbing on their configuration with 10mm Tenex. works great. Ive got some Ocean as well but havn't gave it a solid climb in.

Yes... follow the link above. "The Guide" will answer all of your questions.

I own seven Hitch Climbers. Including one Rapide. Two are currently on loan to convince others to purchase the HC for themselves. The Rapide results in noticeably less friction; and is quieter.

Wow, seven...you must really like them. So you can really notice the difference in the Rapide vs. the original?

Do you use any in place of a simple pulley? They seem to have a pretty high rating.

I have the guide to the hitch climber, just looking for any other techniques you may have found.

I can't emphasize enough. BUY IT! It will revolutionize your climbing, it did mine. The Rapide is worth the extra. Like a ford vs. a mercedes. No noise and way smoother. It helps to put a ring on your saddle so that your tail is oriented to come out straight ahead. This makes it a little harder to body thrust but then the hitchclimber will pull your tail from the right or left on a limbwalk without you having to pull slack. (A swivel might be the best, but never had one to try it) Good luck!
