Lubbers & Sons Tree Care in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking either a climber or a ground worker (with ongoing training available in either case). Note we do not currently offer health insurance or other formal benefits, although we aim to keep adding benefits as we grow over the coming years. We are also developing a profit-sharing pay model for the right reliable crew that is able to help us maximize efficiency and minimize avoidable expenses (damaged equipment, etc) in the future. We are a young company (5 years) with owners involved in daily operations and fully invested in the success and happiness of our employees. RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of our tree crew, your duties will include:


Performing ground work (rigging, assisting the climber, debris removal, chipping, etc), including on crane-assisted tree-removal in support of specific job assignments, as directed by the owners of the company. Note that all crew members are expected to pitch in on the ground, regardless of specific job title, and all ground workers can have the opportunity to learn to climb if desired.

Climbing (if you already have climbing experience) trees which are at your safe working skill level (with training and assistance always available at all levels). All pruning is done without the use of spikes, all climbers are expected to utilize both DRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing techniques.

Interpreting work orders and tracking your own hours within an app our crew uses to stay organized.

Safely driving company vehicles, driving and backing up with trailers attached, safe operation of mini skid-steer and chipper.

Safely performing and always continuing to learn in all aspects of arboriculture, including:

Tree identification

Pruning

Removals

Cabling and bracing

Root collar excavations, root pruning

Tree planting

Tree health care treatments (after specific training)

Properly maintaining and operating tools and equipment per our daily and weekly maintenance checklists

Carrying out other tasks as assigned by the owners of the company

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this role you
must meet the following qualifications:

Valid driver’s license and clean MVR (CDL not required but it is welcome), ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle and experience towing/backing up trailers.

At least two years working on a professional tree crew

Ability to work outdoors year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions.

Ability to learn, understand, and follow to all industry standards and safety rules, as well as company policies and safety expectations. Willingness to ask questions and speak up when you need assistance or training.

Ability to represent our company to clients and the public in a professional manner.
