Helping out senior citizens who NEED it.

How do you all feel about helping out senior citizens who need it? Not the old money or those who can afford it. Im asking about those who have obvious tree issues, very little money, very little social security income and you just feel bad! Because when you drive away from that property, you know what might happen with the tree or trees.

On the other hand I know from experience, helping folks out sometimes can bite you in the ass!

We should all be doing a little pro bono work. Shift costs to the entitled folks wanting unnecessary work.

Or treebay one of those dmm blocks.

I feel strongly that we should take care of them if there are no other options available. Usually getting that information is difficult, but it's been my experience that those who are sincerely needy will always offer to pay something. That's a clear sign of genuine gratitude and need. I am fortunate that there are enough guys I work with that are like minded that it's easy to team up on projects like this to help people on a regular basis.

They may not all remember your name or what you did, but you know when you need to help for yourself.
After a while you will get groupies, we have several.
Keep in mind the ones who truly don't have always find a way to repay.
I think we should make a thread of the ways customers have found to pay you back.

I am in a strong military community with a lot of retired military. There are organizations like House of Hero's etc that you can connect with to offer help. The recipients are always grateful for the help.

Charity is good, for the deserving. I hear a lot of bs about how poor people are when they are not. I get too many clients who retired younger than i am and expect sympathy.

I work out of a retirement community of 100,000 people. I received a call from a homeowner that hired the lowest bidder and the city is coming after them for this.

Their message was to request an Arborist report stating that the tree was ok. They stated that they do not have any money. The city is tired of this work and is fining homeowners thousands in fees, court, Arborist reports, long term restoration, etc.

I got a chuckle when they thought that I was their attorney. Oops. I decided to decline the consult due to a conflict of interest as I was helping the city institute a licensing program for Tree Companies.

Not all are in need. Some just want the lowest bidder. You will know really quickly who needs help. Help those and get paid in eggs, pies, and cookies.

That's some poopy work right there bub.
Supposed to make it look like it grew that way right?

Some of the best referrals you can get are from those you have helped in need. Definitely not the reason to help someone, but an added bonus.

Yep, very expensive long term fix. I would anticipate that the remaining oak will be sun scalded due to never seeing the sun. That oak requires reduction and thinning due to the increased wind load that it is now being exposed to. General assessment is that it will fall over if nothing is done.

The topped tree requires annual inspection and restoration pruning. The ends will decay and will have to be reduced to a newly established sprout within 5-10' of the topping cuts. This can happen at year 5.

Both trees should have radial trenching completed to increase root production/nutrition as soon as possible as all of the summer food production is gone and any storage for winter will be used for shoot growth.

5 year out look in costs @ $10,000
