The more I think about it, if these were from structural timbers they'd have to be Hemlock...

Hard to really identify the smell, all I know is that it doesn't smell like two stroke exhaust...

Larch does not have a distinct smell, new or old, it's very subtle.

2. Does it have a bitter taste
3. Does it have ring shake
4. Where horses kept there. They don't like Hemlock
5. Hemlock inner bark is very high in tannins
