Heavy duty slings

Towards the end of the linked article I found this line:

Since High Performance synthetics become stronger when exposed to extreme cold the products have also proved useful in heavy
lifting tasks in an arctic environment.

That's something I never heard about HP fibers. I wonder if Minneapolis in a normal winter falls under their "arctic environment".

That is interesting stuff. I was once told that nylon fiber is a poor choice for extreme cold. I don't remember where I read/heard that?

What type of fiber are they calling "high performance"? Am-steel, t900, dynema, spectra? Also, if the strength of HP fiber is even better in extreme cold, is the opposite true? Should we assume that they are weakened by the heat in hot climates? Or are they tested and rated at hotter temps?

In our 2002 catalog, we'll be introducing a new "breed" of super slings. I can't really give any details yet, but they are going to be pretty strong.
