Healthy Tree...Accident Happens

Hogwash. Good falling/cutting skills are the same whether in the woods, backyard, or otherwise.

I would agree. The only real difference between arborist and logger tree felling is perhaps risk tolerance for and/or the acceptance of collateral damage. In residential work the margins for error in this respect can be much tighter.

Sometimes logging happens right next to houses, roads, powerlines, etc.

I agree, but residential always does.

In the end, there are more similarities than differences. In my career often the only difference for me as a cutter between logger, land clearer or arborist was who signed the pay check.

Skill at dropping trees is skill no mater how target rich the environment.

Yes I see signs of falling incompetence all over the place, but it's good to make a distinction between falling techniques that work in the woods and falling techniques that work in the backyard.

Of course if you don't have a clue how to cut a basic notch and backcut, anything you learn will be a huge improvement
I agree with both of you, the basic skills are the same, but for example, I'd never try to turn a tree with an intentional dutchman on a residential/commercial property because the stakes are too high. The worst that happens in a timber falling context is wasted board feet.
