Head Protection

Here's an incident involving a struck by where the person was saved by wearing a hard hat.

A guy was pruning a tree. At the end of the work on this specific tree, the climber asked the groundperson to catch his pruner before the climber descended to the ground. The groundperson walked underneath the climber and looked up at him. The climber dropped the pruner. The groundguy stood there. Well, what the groundy did was try to catch the pruner pole with his head. He wasn't successful since the pruner pole fell to the ground. I'm thinking he wanted to slow the fall of the pruner since he knew the pole wouldn't be damaged from a 6 foot fall.

Seriously though, this guy's hard hat stopped the pruner pole from penetrating his skull and he ended up with stitches, a head ache, and a new hard hat.

Needless to say, this is a perfect case in point as to why we wear head protection. Even though we're the choir, this type of reinforcement is warranted.

that's right hardhats are important, but the climber should have lowered the pruner out of the tree.the only thing that should be dropped from the tree is brush.
