Happy Fathers Day!

It’s a dynamic issue for sure, mine was great for the most part other than chronically ill with cancer from the age of 5 to 20 when he passed. My older half sister on the other hand... he completely abandoned her at a very young age. I didn’t even know I had a sister until I was 12 or 13... he tried to make it right, but her pain was too deep.

“I don’t care what you do to your kids , in one way or another you’re gonna screw them up,”
That is a good quote for sure. It also seems a developmental step in life is finding the negatives in one’s parents and, for some, disliking them. Mine isn’t a prick, he is a lovely man with lots of trauma. He has characteristics I want to instill in my daughter and ones I don’t.

“It skips a generation” is a other aspect. Both with genetics traits, and parents doing the opposite of their parents so much so that the kids end up more like the grandparents.

My Brother has most of Dad’s tools. I have some.
I've got some of my Grandpa's tools so this lesson was passed down a few times.
I can’t say mine is that bad; he’s got his faults to be sure, but he has also done a lot of good for me over the years. I’ve learned to deal with the bad sides and look for the good instead. There’s too many people out there with no father to push mine away because he is not perfect.

Well said and I’d never thought of it that way.
