Happy Chappy

After months of using my big one's, Jelte finally got his own MS 460 (again). All of his saws and a blower were stolen from his truck a few months ago.
In the attachment you can see one happy chappy Jelte in the back near the tree and me in front managing the portable Groundhog.

I figured it out. He's got the groundhog stuck in the ground and he's going to pull it out by using the forces generated by that falling tree trunk! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I bet they're pulling our leg!

Heye guys, this was supposed to be about Jelte's new MS 460, not the groundhog.

Sorry Leon,
The Groundhog is Jelte's toy, and the only thing I know about it is that, when the Penetrograph readout is high enough, you can load it up to 30 tons SWL.
Jelte is out of town right now, but he will be due back at the end of the week. He probably has some pictures too from the lower part that you screw into the soil.

I wonder if you can use that groundhog jon for a portable speedline anchor?

That's exactly what I was wondering.

It sure looks like it would make a great speed line anchor or even a pull over anchor. It must screw into the ground rather well if that weight rating is correct. Underground utilties may be a concern.

This came up just the other day. I wanted an anchor to pull a tree over vs cutting more hinge or wedging. I was looking over the neighbors fence seeing nothing but an inground pool and thinking hmmm......? Before that day I was thinking what can I anchor off here for a speed line? I've seen ground anchors that you use for off roading that digs in that you hook your trucks winch up to pull you out when yet stuck and have no other options to winch from.

Yip, the Hog is a great piece of kit! Just got it a few weeks ago, just screw the bolder into the ground and you're all set.....controled velling, pull over or speedlining, you can do it all!!

MB, the guy who makes the Hog has'nt got a website up yet, he's just started producing them.

WOW!

Jelte,

That's a big screw. How do you install that thing? Is it done with a machine? By hand?

How you been? Well I hope,

Eric

In tight quaters that would be a good tool to have in the bag.

Tight quarters can be a bit of a problem with the GH, if you want to be able to use the full 30ton work load you need some additional ballast/counterweight....just the srew thread won't hold it. Whatever you have will do the trick, your truck, another tree or whatever....

rig safe, jelte
