I have no clue how this could be used in tree work. I can think of uses for it that are not related to treework though.

you could take the 2 tails, tie them together with a double fishermans and attach it to your line with a prussik and have a double foot ascender.

That's what you use when you come across people like Remedy and other huggers. /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

From Geoffrfrey Budsworth's "Knots and RopeWork".

Mr. Budsworth is co-founder of the Knot Tyer's Guild, forensic consultant, re-edited Ashley's Book of Knots etc.

Curiously, this is the referred to knot previous to the HandCuff Knot...
(so the name isn't my fault, just blabbing it is!)

i think these wouldn't really hold ya, unless behind back, stretched tight, or anchored to throat from behind, under guard etc.

I've seen it called the California Love Knot. /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif

And...I've used it on the back of an ambulance on an uncooperative patient with "ETOH" on board (under the influence).
