Half day job...

Who is MB?? And picture leave alot out as well. If everything were to explode on him, he could stay right where he is and take pics. himself. No, we didn't weigh the pieces before we cut them, experience told us that. I did measure out the final drop on the big one with a clinometer. Measured 3x then marked it and put my truck in front of the house cause the bossman was nervous. It fell 4ft. short of target mark. Which I did cut higher than measured, so it wasn't a bad drop.

There was room on the one side but most leaned towards slope in the back and elsewhere which would have been more of a pain for the groundies to clean up. Got to have SOME mercy on the groundguys.

That lead we dropped was measured out to target mark at 110ft. It came out 4ft. shy.

This tree was just leaning all over the neighbors side. No need to lower on itself when you have a crank and a bigger tree.

Climber came out of tree after tying off trunk to drop so we could pop that one out, which is same piece as another one of these pics.

Last one. This thing gets excersied every once in awhile. Being about 100lbs you tend not to want to put it up. Obviously there's newer ones now, but to bust this out puts a smile on your face. This is one of the original gangsters. Remember when computers were the size of classrooms?

This thing was only made to fit big trunks and take a beating. You can also see it slid up some. We usually cut a spot for it in the trunk, but didn't feel like it today.

Nice looking device. It looks like it weighs 100lbs. I've not seen a lowering device with fixed and moveable bollards both. I got my fist hobbs in 1989 after seeing the guys at the Morris Arboretum use one. Using a GRCS now. These devices sure open up the possibilities when rigging.

Thanks for the photos.

There is no need for MB to reply in a oneliner on this, I think we know he thinks he is the best and is never scared and makes these moves all the time. /forum/images/graemlins/ahhhhh.gif

MasterBlaster,

MB is my coworker and the sentence that you quoted was ment FUNNY.

But I can see now, and I am quoting your oneliner "Come again, eh?" why you took it personally and took it as an offence.
Pleas keep your long toes under the table, I am not on this forum to p!ss someone off. I am not (it would be the second time this week on this forum) gonna apologize again.
As I stated before I am not here to kick ass but I want my fellow treeman to live forever.

I took nothing "personally and as an an offense", I just didn't know what you were talking about.

Long toes? /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Do you feel a little better about those pics now Wolter?

I forget who asked but we used 1/2 line and secured it with 2 half hitches. We could have used 1 half hitch with a little back up overhand knot, but we went crazy and went with 2 half hitches. Hope that helps.

It's just the pic. it's very difficult to see the actual 3D and your right it probably was in a safe mode.

I once took a big top out of a double topper Fraxinus ang. At the time of the cut I was attached to both parts of the tree with DRT. The wind ghushed the top over and dropped it IN the tree over my climbingsystem that was going over to the other top of the tree.
Believe me I was not amused with about 300 kg of treetop on my line at a height of 22 meters (66 feet) and a coworker on the other side of the castle.

Since then I am not such a cowboy anymore and I see things go wrong (before others think of it as a unsafe practice) first and then think wat to do to prevent it.

Awell it kept me alive and others from making the same mistakes.
