growth reg. coincidence?

I growth regulated my neighbors 2 pin oaks. For the past couple years 1 of them has been oozing bacterial wetwood like crazy ever since he severely hit the roots with a lawn mower.

I applied the GR in march and it stopped oozing completely by early may.

I have to wonder if the GR was the culprit?
