Sewing by hand is infuriatingly slow in comparison.
It would be nice to own a machine powered simply by a hand wheel to accomplish the same thing, but machines that can accommodate heavy gauge thread and needles, with a needle tip to bed clearance of at least 9/16" tend to be spendy. Even used ones on eBay!
