'Green Vase' Zelkova vs. Wildfire Black Gum

Location

Since I had 2 Wildfire Black Gum trees that did not make it I thought I would try a 'Green Vase' Zelkova tree comparing the two trees which one would you say is the nicest of the two?
I love the Wildfire Black Gum and am not sure what went wrong with the two all I can say is the leaves started to turn brown on the second on shortly after I had it planted not do to the leak of water for I watered it weekly. The first one came out in buds but never broke bud.
What I read about the 'Green Vase' Zelkova it also has a nice root system that does not cause any damage and the Fall color is fantastic just as nice as the Wildfire Black Gum.
I am not sure if the 'Green Vase' Zelkova has a Tip root.
Does anyone have one of each or both of them and if so can you give the Postive and Negative of your experience with them?
You will see my posting on the Black Gum tree that I posted earlier.

I'm interested in what people have to say about Green Vase Z., I recently bought five of them for myself. I chose them because because they're fast-growing and were on sale.

dropper May I ask you how big were they?
What did you give for them?
I can get a 2 inch for $175.00 not sure how tall they are.

Would you buy them again? Minus that they are fast growing?
That is something that I don't care for but what I read they are a very nice trre.
A fast growing tree does not live long. But a moderately growing tree is OK and a slow growing tree is even better. What I read is that a 'Green Vase' Zelkova is a moderately growing tree.

I'm glad you asked, I bought four one inch GVZs from Lowes at 75% off for $10 each. I also bought one inch-and-a-half tree which was much bushier and came to $25 after 75 off.
I desperately need shade in my yard and they have dense foliage, and they have great fall color. Although it did say on their tags that they were fast growing, from what I have researched they are moderate growers.
