GRCS Optimal Rope Size?

Title pretty much has the question.

This question pertains more to the winch or capstan(?, right word?) insert.

I have used 3/4",5/8, and 1/2" double braids with no problems
I also had a static 5/8" kernmantle(pretty hard type braid tough to knot type) even works well.
Use what ever you got or the rope for the application!
3/4 is a tigght fit with the cleat but does work.
I am pretty sure the specs say up to 5/8

I would check the Harken web site. It has all the specs for all of their winches.

9/16" works best for us.

9/16" is all I have ever used with the GRCS and it does work very well.

Any bigger than 9/16 ths and you can blow the springs out on the jaws. You shouldnt need a bigger rope for static lifting. Springs are cheap and easy to replace but it sucks when yoi gou for a lift and your rope starts slipping. I would avoid the larger diameters

I like 1/2" stable braid, good WLL and you can get a lot of wraps on the drum.
