Grapple question

An equipment dealer told me today that you could run a rotating grapple on both a skidsteer or mini excavator with just a little time to switch them back and fourth.

It was a brief conversation and I didn't have time for details. Anyone hve any any details or maybe running a grapple this way?

Yes you can you use a hydraulic diverter valve if you Don't have two sets of remotes so basically your one set of remotes runs into a valve with four ports going out of it and there's a 12v coil in it that shifts the valve to your second function when energized. So your loader will need a momentary button on joy sticks to be ergonomic, on my rc 30 loader your normal hydraulic function will open and close the grapple. Then I wired the trigger button to the diverter valve so when I depress the trigger button while working the hydrsulic function button I can rotate the grapple clock wise or counter clock wise. When I let off the trigger button it go back to open or close. Let me know if this makes since if not you can pm me and I'll give you my number and ill explain on the phone

Sure, that makes sense to me. Right now we only run a grapple bucket or load logs with the thumb of the excavator, but when I buy a rotator I thought it would be sweet to use it on either machine. Thanks for the info axe.

What was the rough cost and timeline it took you?

I considered doing the same but time is always so hard to come by.

If you buy a grapple and rotator, you will need a hanger for each machine, and have the hydraulics figured out to give you the two circuits (rotation and grab) for both machines.

From there you could the rotator and its 4 hydraulic lines to whichever mount you needed.

What excavator do you have? I have a Kubota KX121-3. I was going to use a HD Branch Manager Grapple and rotator (I work for Branch Manger/Top Notch Equipment) and build a hanger for my ex. I got a job where I needed a track loader and sold the grapple and rotator before I built the hanger. Now I'm doing the job where I needed the grapple.

I'll get another grapple/rotator at some point in the near future and go for it again. I do wish I had a hydraulic quick connect that would also handle the hydraulic connections so I could switch back and forth between a grapple and bucket without effort.

I have a kubota kxo57 and a asv rc100. I'm just trying to figure out if the savings are worth the time spent. Even having a welder torches shop etc. etc. sometimes it's more cost efficient to pay for the finished product.

My theory would be to have a grapple and rotator for each hanger instead of swapping. My CTL is a Tak TL250/Mustang MTL325.
