Got my chipper!

So I got my first chipper! Prepare for the flood of questions to follow. First I am looking for a manual. 2001 BB model 90. Called BB and they said call local dealer. I can't believe there is no local dealer near Chicago. Anyway talked to dealer and he said call BB. Anyone else have this type of experience and know what to do?
Also curious about proper torque for knives. I ordered new knives and I want to make sure I get them properly installed.

check on line maybe you can download a copy. remember to set the anvil distance after you change the knives. i think my vermeer is 150 ft/lbs but its raining and the book is in the truck i'll check tomorrow good luck with that chipper be safe

I have a 90xp and couldn't be happier with it. I bought it second hand and never had a manual either. I have always hand tightened the knifes as tight as I could and it has worked great. One thing that got me at first though was putting the nuts on the bolts, the way that they are designed to be locking is by a threaded insert ring with slightly ofset threads from the rest of the nut always put the nuts on with the ring facing out, if not you will be swearing at yourself because the nut will come off when you flip the knives and that insert will have to come off with vise grips it is no fun. Dont forget to replace your nuts and bolts every few times you change blades either they will fatigue over time( having a few spares are good too). One last thing I do not know what engine you got, hopefully the diesel, but if it the gas wisconsin CHANGE THE OIL CONSTANTLY!!!! Those air cooled engines work good but the oil burns up quick. Trust me I blew the first one up.

Your bandit dealer should be able to order the manual for you from bandit. If not, call michigan directly. They're nice folks.

I got the manual for my chipper motor (Kubota) from Engine Power Source in SC.

I am not sure our blades have been to spec since it was new? I just tighten them as much as possible. With a breaker bar or something. Hope the machine goes well for you. Maybe check Ebay for the manual?

Thanks for the well wishes and help so far. The machine is in really good shape. Guy was selling it with 1200 hrs on it, turned out to only have 500. He was reading rpm's instead of hour meter. The only problems were the trailer jack needed to be replaced and i had to re do the wire harness. It does not have a diesel engine but it is a start!

Congrats! Find out the torque spec and invest in a torque wrench! Over tightening is not fun when you go to flip them, and I'm sure not getting them tight enough wouldn't turn out good either.

There is a bandit dealer outside of Milwaukee. The name is LF George. Their phone number is 262/567-6666. I have a 90xp also and it is a really dependable machine. The service at LF George is great as well. In and out, most times while you wait.
