Golfing shoes and logging boots used to use the same spikes. I call them tree walking boots.

Sergio hurt his shoulder on the climb. Must of been with the what do you call it, press up. He had the easy route at the start but had to be the cool guy. He can probably do 50 presses in the gym but your body doesn't have to slide through a tree in the gym.

I'm not a golfer, but many years ago, metal spikes on golf shoes were "banned" from most coarses.
The concern was transferring diseases from one coarse to another by "innoculation".
Shoes now use nubs or relatively soft "plastic gripper fingers" in place of metal spikes.
