Generic Rigging Thimbles

Hey everyone.

Well, two good things came out of this.

With the treehouse bashing commentary, I realized that I haven't yet put out a good video on these slings. I guess I was avoiding it since it takes hours and hours to edit multiple cameras and multiple jobs. But this will push me to do it. I am taking off tomorrow and staying in the office. I do have a day job you know... On the crappy video I put out originally, in the information area I wrote, "Not edited well and no music; unlike my work videos. The video is not organized well, but I needed to get something out there quick."

I guess this didn't matter to some of the treehouse people. As they stated pretty much that the video was embarrassing.

Anyway, I'm glad they reminded me how important it is to get a good video together.

I was bothered by the beginning comments on here and especially on treehouse. I felt a few people were attempting to make it look like I was ripping people off.

It was quite negative.

THEN!, two big names in this industry contacted me. One by e-mail and one by phone today. (this is why I'm writing this)

They explained that, "this is how it goes and they have been through it. They both said, a few people for some reason will try to undermine and destroy what you have been working on. Likely out of jealousy, but who knows for sure. Don't talk to them, don't feed them. They are like vultures and more will come if you try to attack them. Forums are piddly when it comes to numbers so don't worry about it if someone tries to hurt the product on the forum." in so many words.

I am posting here to say thank you to so many of you that stood up and are supporting me in this. Also thank you to the two big guys that called and e-mailed me personally. I can't thank you enough. You've been through this and know how stressful and financially exhausting this is. I'll be honest, this really bothered me until I talked to the both of you guys that have been through this. I can’t thank you enough.

What I will do is: when I have experience in all of this, I will help out the next new guy that is getting his good product bashed. I will give him advice and take away the stress he or she feels. I will pass on the good deed.

THANK YOU to those that gave support.

I will listen to the wise and not feed the vultures, even though it is SO HARD FOR me, theXman. So God DANG HARD!. This is not like me to stop on this thread. But I’ve always tried to listen to the wise in life, even if I can’t stand it. I can hardly stand it.

On another note, I have been working with antal’s other products and have put a lot of time and effort into making them useful for our industry. Antal is also willing to work with me and possibly produce products that I personally come up with. So, get used to it, more will be coming out. By the way, Antal and it's North American distributor have integrity.

David, it is us who should be THANKING YOU, for trying to help out our industry by putting out a product that will help us to work safer and more productively...thank you very much!

Its a roller coaster of a ride with a money eating dragon at the tip of your sword.
Feel fortunate you do not have Industry leaders bashing your product.
Chin up!

David, thanks for bringing that ring off the boat and into the trees.

GOOD JOB!

You know what's coming ... you'll see those little black rings with "Sherrill" written on them ... heavy-sigh ...

Still, great innovation ... can't wait to see what's next ... keep up the good work, man!

Sincerely,
Jack

David, you did a great job on de X rigging rings !
Appreciate all the work you put in it and all the testing you did. Over here Antal has a great network of marine equipment and the X rigging rings are not yet landed ;-)

I made some time ago a thimble from the smallest friction ring from antal and it works great on the Lanyard when use in SRT modus.

Add a pic for you and maybe you can make them customized to fit a carabiner in it, had to drill and work it a little before it fits.

Cheers and keep on the good work !

With regard to function and use (if that fits in here) does anyone have anything to share about using X Rigging Rings? Moosehead, are your videos, of use, available anywhere? I tried three configurations of the XRR slings and love them. They work for me (my work style) and I am going to make money using them.

It was here at Tree Buzz that I first got wind of them. Thanks for the new ideas that you share here and a big thanks for having Tree Buzz available as a learning tool.

They the best thing out there for using the fishing pole technique when rigging trees. Look at my photos on the other thread.

Have also used them on every rigging job since I got them whenever I need a re-direct...they're outstanding.

Check the buzzbuster video. I posted one last night. There are 2 rings up top along with a block and they work flawlessly!

Gentlemen please, this is nothing but ugly.

The notion that David was somehow manufacturing these rings by himself is preposterous on its face. More than that, it is very, very improbable to think that any manufacturing source would build only for a tree-climber market. This market is simply too small to sustain a profitable investment like that.

David’s value has been in the inspiration, the application and the real-world testing. Nobody at Antel will answer your question about how many rings to use at the top-rigging spot. Or how to set a fishing pole rig. Or what to expect for heat when dropping and running heavy wood.

Thank you, David. I for one appreciate that.

Now he’s got the classic entrepreneur’s challenge: to understand his market and to deliver value to it. The operative word here is market, not every individual in the market. Some of us are inveterate tinkerers. I certainly count myself in that class. But many want to buy a solution, ready to go. For the convenience. For the safety and certifications. For the quick delivery and the application support. And they are willing to direct their patronage toward supporting that.

But it’s a fine balancing act. Not everybody gets it right. The product itself is only a small part of the total value proposition. If you get it right, people will respond to the value. If you get it wrong, welcome to business: if you want a friend, get a dog.

VALUE! The market will respond to value, measured not on a historical achievement but a “what have you done for me lately” yardstick.

This is how I feel too, thanks Oldfart.

How about this for an idea on a product to sell: Weld up an airgun with really crappy welds. I mean REALLY crappy amateur welds. Actually sell it to someone and tell them to pump it up with high air pressure, then have them hold it next to their face for aiming. 165 psi in a crappy welded metal container and use it by holding it against your cheek. What happens if one of those weak seems bursts while it's against the users head? Death? Shrapnel? Hearing loss?

I've just found you've been bashing my XRR slings on TreeHouse. That thread shows your true feelings and intentions. It looks like I was correct after all.

I've got to go to work....... Talk more later.

Xman, Bonner isn't the best welder, but I can confidently say he is a well-intentioned person who is passionate about our industry.

When I see Bonner post the link to treestuff when the XRR arrived, and bringing up the X Rigging Rings on those other sites, shows me that he's excited and wants to spread the word too.

Xman, you got to see the APTA 'air gun' in person and noticed the welds, I'm sure it made you guys nervous because you love me and don't want to see me get hurt. Nick did send a million emails, with instructions, and warnings, and telling me to be careful. He strongly urged me to wait for another one to be made, told me about the welds, and the rough look, but I wanted that one, the first one.

I brought this up with my girlfriend/office worker, and she said one of the emails cautioned against pumping it up above 125psi. I'll have to double check that, but they emailed back and forth for a while... hey?

I'm sure we can move pass this and we can work together to spread the word of APTA, and the XAS RR - as you can see at the end of this video I have a vision of you two working together as one.
