Daniel, I sympathize. I don’t see eye to eye with RFKJr on everything, but I’ve listened to him on several podcasts and think he’s a decent guy who loves his country. It’s a shame our politics have devolved to a binary choice. Especially when the two choices are so flawed.
I think the only way to break the mold is for a truly charismatic BILLIONAIRE to run. Self fund. Just blanket the airwaves with commercials. Screw the parties and the “machine”. But of course, a billionaire would be immediately attacked for being rich, no matter how honestly he/she earned their money.

You guys are being a bit dramatic. He’s saying he needs the Christian vote in November. Then, after he fixes the mess he’s inheriting, he wont need their vote again, both because he won’t be running and because the Republican candidate/policies will presumably be so popular that huge (Christian) turnout won’t be so necessary in 4 years.
A bit optimistic bordering on ridiculous, but that’s Trump.
Anyway, if you guys are so scared that Trump is going to be a dictator or somehow end elections altogether, please enlighten me as to how this would happen. What specific mechanism do you see Trump using to end elections? Absurd. Been watching too much Maddow.
That's kinda the interpretation I had as well. Trump basically saying the country will be so well off, and the Republican party so firmly entrenched, that voter turnout in future elections won't be as important.
Which is an equally assinine thing to say. Politicians should be encouraging people to vote always, not saying they can sit the next one out.

I doubt elections would ‘end’. But all the rhetoric about fake elections and uncounted votes etc will worsen. Essentially Jerry mandering shit so bad the result of future elections would be entirely predictable.
Remember January 6th…. The fix he has in mind is making sure events like that are successful.
Hell Russia still has elections. Putin just must be the best guy ever because he keeps winning ALL OF THEM. The fix is moving the US into a similar model.

Again, I don’t see how. Tom would oppose him. Rico and Matias and Levi and evo would oppose him. I would oppose him. Every thinking person would. We are not Russia. We were never ruled by Czars and we fought to throw off a King. We would do so again. As the feminists say, “Become ungovernable”.
Anyway, worth pointing out that only one presidential candidate has received precisely zero votes to get where she is. Elections must not be that important, eh?

Her record is incredibly authoritarian.
Either her or trump and we are going to be in for a shit show.
I agree we live in a patriarchal society and that does need to shift. The bandwagon of Karen’s getting behind her is gross.
My mixed wife has been vocal about her POV against Harris, and is being bombarded with texts from older white ladies saying “don’t say that about her, we all need to get behind Harris”
Totally unacceptable behavior.
Now if it does indeed go only trump vs Harris, I do think Harris is the lessor evil but will further the demise of our governance. I’ll likely not vote as I know how the electoral college will play out in my state, entirely pointless. If there is a viable 3rd party that I can get behind, I’d likely vote there.

What are the rules for the Democratic party to pick a presidential candidate? I haven't heard of anyone filing any legal suits against Harris for accepting the nomination.
Some subgroup of the D party has already gone over all this. It was done years ago when the planning for the election started. This is basic strategy and running through What-ifs?
When I first started hearing rumps name in the news around 2010 I disliked him from Day One. There is not ONE thing that he's done that is redeeming. Waste of oxygen. Not to be trusted.

Ok so there is a wave of folks in our area most all in their mid 60’s to early 70’s. Almost seem cult like democrats. I can agree with some of their politics whole heartedly. Yet on the other hand they are zealots and very much us against them, or you are with us or against on all ‘topics’.
Essentially the mirror image of the right wing zealots.
My partner is against Harris vehemently and she is being approached by these folks trying to implement their morals to sway their desired president. All done with some hyper passive aggressive tones.
On the other hand totally not down with Trump. Dude is a psychopath.

Yes we live in a patriarchal society, racist society. And that needs to change. Harris ticks those boxes for the voting base I’m discussing, her policy’s are pandering to a base which I can mostly see eye to eye with, yet are reminiscent of Reagan’s war on drugs type authoritarian policies more common on the extreme other side of the fence.

You conveniently skipped over the part where Trump already attempted to stay in power longer than our constitution allows by attempting to use the power of his 1st presidency to illegally overturn the 2020 election. Do you honestly think Donny will make the same mistakes he made in his 1st attempt to stay in power indefinitely if he is given another chance?
