I had the opportunity to attend a 1- day course in my area w/Todd K & Mike dirkson
it was great!!!!!!! I thought I remembered (while talking to Mr.Kramer) he was using a 'canoe'....I thought it to be a knut but with a diff. turn at the bottom??? I hope there's no term...confusion..
thanks again /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

hi Nathan,
isn't that the knut you are showing? i have attached the knot i believe to be the CANOE hitch. i believe the knot is so titled due to the fact it resembles a canoe with paddles at the ready. glad to have been of help.
peace and flexability!
So one climber would be attached to each of the cords, one on the right and the left?
Why would anyone climb like that? Please explain the application.
At first glance I guess I could see using that configuration for opposite pulls on a main line. Add a couple of more round turns and you could end up with interlocking prusiks. With the single tuck it doesn't look too secure.
Tod should be checking in soon and shed some light on the subject.
I may be wrong but it sounds like Tod was using his T.K. and was being clever with the name. There is a good article in this months Arborist News (written by a Buzzer if I am not mistaken) that has a good illustration and excellent description of the hitch you're after.
oops... seems i've asked maybe a forbidden type question...
although i guess not if it's published...thanks to all...for
the knowledge sharing...tricky....tricky....it happened so fast
my memory was overloaded.....thanks again...I'll be checking it out... /forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Uh, Oh. Now I'm confused. /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif Nathan's picture is a Knut, correct (the bottom half, anyway, which is depicted)? At leats, it matches the picture of the Knut in the Articles section 'AN OVERVIEW OF CLIMBING HITCHES'.
