footlocking

I am trying to learn the secured footlock I can footlock using the traditional system I can even footlock the double line without my saddle on but have some problems with saddle on I see that the sherrill catalog has kong double accenders would this help ? can someone give me a few pointers on this type of system itwould be much appreciated

I tried for a while to learn footlocking, never did like it much. Then I found the single greatest toy in my bag of tricks. The Petzl Pantin now allows me to 'footlock' with one foot, whenever I want. Some may call it cheating, but this 37 year old body will do whatever is easiest. The Pantin is so easy I do not need to learn footlocking without it. I wear it on every climb unless I'm wearing gaffs for a removal.

I have the Kong ascender and I bought it for the same reason.
It works fine for recreational climbing and footlocking but for tree work I prefer the pantin.
I use the Kong and back it up with a Distel.

I was thinking of bolting a Pantin to a leg iron which would serve double duty.
Any comments?"

Sounds like a wild idea. How about using a bigger ascender for this purpose? like a chest ascender maybe. (if you do this dont tell the safety inspectors) :)

That`s an old idea.

I think a croll would be easier to bolt on, more surface area to bolt and $15 less (no strap).
I can envision problems. Gaffing my lifeline and the ascender interfering with gaffing. Instead of the best of both worlds, you would have two conflicting systems.

This is my third try posting. I forgot to disable my Norton the first time and this site will not let me post with it on. I keep getting an 'invalid host' message. It would be nice if this site were compatible with common security programs like Norton Internet Security 2003. It's not like I have some off-brand system or setup.

pantim on spikes

We have done this, and it works well if you have to demolish a multi leader tree(lots of ups an downs). The pantim actually controls the location of the rope.
It seemed quite a good idea at first but havn't used it much of late. What do you think Scott??
We actually modified both the pantim and the spikes to do achieve this Oooppss!!

You mention that you have some problems footlocking with your saddle on. Are you carrying too much equipment on and is it getting in the way? I'm new to footlocking myself and whenever I go up I try to limit the amount of "stuff" I carry as it can sometimes frustrate me to no end.
Also, what king of saddle are you using? I'm not sure how much it matters but for me a snug compact saddle like my trusty Buckingham Master I does the trick for what I do.
Give some more details for the Buzz people.
