First day on the rope runner

I'm so enjoying my runner. I need to put it down and get back on the bone for a little while. Very difficult to decide which one I like more. Zigzag is still the favorite though. Just too much gear doing it set up with a rw. Now I use it yoyo style.

John Kays' SLIC Pin tool is rad. You can keep gloves on and easily manipulate everything for on/off rope changes. The tool has found a permanent spot on my saddle right next to the Right Leg Loop Buckle.

The only real trick is to have your rope slacked both above and below the Runner to mitigate any torquing of the parts that would keep the pin from sliding freely. I just have to try and erase over a year of not having the tool and remember it's there.

Thanks John!!!

My impression based on what was said by John_Kays in the post that I left a link to is that this is not yet a product that is in production and available for sale. Just like it took some time for the Rope Runner to get to the point where it could be sold to the general climbing public.

I hope the inventor doesn't get mad at me for this, but it seems like the important part of the device, the hollow metal tube, could be made up easily by anyone motivated to do so. You just need to find out what diameter of metal tubing fits over the Rope Runner's SLIC pins and causes them to disengage. Then just drill a hole in it so that you can attach some kind of a lanyard to it.

When the actual tool really does come out for sale, I think they'll sell like hotcakes. It would be great if TreeStuff marketed it on the same page as the Rope Runners. I think they'd sell one or two to every new Rope Runner purchaser.

Wow, I've been out of it for a while! Someone pinch me next time. Here is the little video I put together:

Luke at Treestuff is woking on getting this thing to market. They have been busy with the Jambo and all, so I'll fill you in when things progress.

I've been doing srt acces in the tree since I have start climbing 4 years ago , and after reading a lot on this forum and exchange with some climbers I bought a rope wrench last fall , I've played with it during winter and started to see the potential of that tool. 6 weeks ago I've decided to buy the rope runner with the intention to never go back to double rope. I felt confortable on this device right aways. This his a amazing piece of gear , I feel like most of the time I'm not working but playing and having fun in the tree. In Quebec working single line is not very popular for now , I hope that people around here will pull the trigger on the runner for the love of the work and also to minimise impact on their body.

I'm really enjoying hearing about the RR. Mine came last week and I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Hopefully I'll be able to sneak a quick climb in this weekend. In the meantime, I'll have to enjoy it through everybody else's shared experiences. Lol

Hopefully you've gotten a bunch of time on your Rope Runner by now. I'd love to hear your impressions of it thus far. Thanks in advance for your time.

I was wondering also about the heat generated when using the Rope Runner. I don't yet own the Rope Runner, I use the Rope Wrench ZK-1. I'm still relatively new to climbing, 2 to 3 years of sporadic opportunities. I once glazed some Beeline hitch cord, which caused it to not grab effectively the next time out. I don't think I glazed my rope.

So my question is, does the Rope Runner ever get so hot that you think there's a possibility of glazing the Rope? Thanks in advance to anyone who chooses to try to answer this question.
