felling top out of dead western redcedar

Just a narrow one, eight inch i think. the cedars aren't at all fun to climb. the older ones have limbs that slope downward so steeply and are so brushy that it's almost impossible to set a line in them from the ground.

Like the cedars the redwoods can grow with drooping limbs too, in extreme cases they can lay against the trunk. Yes, impossible to set lines in from the ground. Battle just to make your way through them. If you get shin sore there's nothing to sit or rest on. And you can't lower anything off a limb that hang like that too. What a pain it is.

I'll agree with that...I've only lost my temper in a tree twice, and both times it was a redcedar...maybe I should stay away from them.
