Fell six mtrs from a tree
Øvre Eiker: A man in his fourties fell down when going to prune some birches in the centre of Skotselv 10.45 am saturday. The ambulance arrived in a short time and he was transported to Buskerud hospital where they staded that he had serious injouries.

Don´t know if he was a pro or just a homeowner trying to save some money allthough it seems like a strange practice to prune birches this time of the year.

From my experience, there is no good time to prune birches, very sensitive trees. They are terrible at reacting to wounds. I suppose this is cause they are reletively short lived?

Roger that but there is always a better time, in this case in Norway from mid june to end of august. Pruning at that period makes them overgrow the wounds faster and you avoid bleeding.
