Feed roller on bandit stuck open

Just finished the day, (with just a little brush left) and the feed roller on my 250xp decided to stay open about 4 inches. Got any ideas???

If it is like a Vermeer, you might be able to detach the spring? It usually is a stick stuck in there. I have had to cut them out.

Does it have the springs to hold it down? sometimes they break. If it has the down pressure is it working?

pulled the pin. feed roller stayed up. that prolly means something is jamed huh? Prolly a stick or is there something else?

Sometimes debris piles around the roller of my little vermeer keeping it from completely closing.

Better get a helper to run the hydraulics while you try to spot the problem.

Nope found it, there is about a 3" piece of wood stuck up high behind the top roller. As bad as it sounds, I stuck my arm up there. I placed a block between the rollers first. Now how the heck do i get it out?

I think i may be able to get an old hand silky up in there. It is about 3" around and is wedged side to side behind and above the top roller. I was thinking about girth hitching a runner around it, linkning a carabiner to my rig line and attaching that to a fidle block. But i may bend something that way. Anyway I am going to bed. Thanks for all your help you guys are good.

Obviuously you got this taken care of by now. I have had this happen 3 times in 7 years. PITA. I have used a combination of a hand saw and a pry bar with a hammer. Hand saw some wood away then beat it down with the pry bar. Make sure the pry bar isn't about the same size as the gap or you could jam the prybar down in the gap and have a hell of a time getting it out. Been there/done that.
