Favorite Split-tails

What are some favorite choices for split-tails? I use a Bee-line mostly, but have a few others. I've got a few others, but don't use them as much. I just ordered an eye to eye ocean, based on a recommendation from a friend.

I just got an Ocean P split tail too. Try it out tomorrow on a big Alder removal. I had been using a velocity.
-these 'split tails' are not eye to eye. I tie a Blakes on my removal days.

this subject has been talked about allot. seems to me that it all depends on the person and what they like to feel when ascending and descending. i like bee line too. its kinda my meat and potatoes for hitches. the best hitch i have used was 3/8's OP and 5/16s all gears tech cord. super smooth on half inch ropes. 5/16 beeline bits too hard on half inch arborist ropes. the 3/8's is allot smoother. with 7/16 lines i often find that the 5/16 is just right and the 3/8s is a bit too slick for me. i use a 4 wrap distel and i weigh 160, 180 when fully geared up including climb saw.

once you find the cordage you like, dont buy them with pre made eye splices, buy the long lengths and possibly learn to splice them yourself this will save you alot of money.
also i just started learning to splice. it gives you more confidence in the cordage since you made it and know how strong it is.

Call me crazy but after trying practically every cord out there I like Tenex best. It sets with a VT/XT every time, no looking, no testing, it just works. 3/8" Tenex TEC is is to splice with a crossed taper for more thickness.

I'd have to say I like Oceans Polyester second best.

Blinky,

What climbing line are you useing the tenex on? I found it to be a little to thick with velocity or blaze.

I go back and fourth between 8mm bee line and Ice tail on 7/16's. I really liked 10mm bee line on 16 stand 1/2". however I stopped using it after 2 different eye n eye's herniated on me. does anyone know if this issue has been solved?

I have that problem with velocity, Love it when it's dry, hate it when it's wet.

I'll have to give tenex another shot on velocity it's been a few years. you gotta love how cheap it is.

I with you blinky I'm a tenex man myself. I have been around the board when it comes to my e2e's and tenex is hands down the best. I climb on a 4 wrap 2 braid vt and i love it. I just spliced up my first ice tail e2e and look forward to trying it out but it will have to be really nice to change my mind.

10mm OP 30" like Chris for climb line with a 4:2 XT, and 3/8" tenex with a 4:3 VT for my 30' lanyard, set up like a secondary climb line with the Stein skywalker pulley.

Much prefer these over either Bee-line!
