Hey buzzers,
I know it’s not the end of the year yet but I thought it would be cool to start the thread of, favorite pics of the year, like we did last year. When I get back home later I’ll throw some stuff up that I have.

Here is another picture from a different perspective. It shows how spreading the branches are. Some of the limbs must have been a least 150ft laterally. The banyan tree was so large It occupied the whole park. I thought this tree was impressive.

Here's two.

The first is by far my favorite: drawn by my 5 yr old son.

"That's Bob sending up Daddy's lunch to him."

This is one of the giant white elms on my campus. The photo was taken for the 2010 PGMS awards, which we placed fourth in our catagory.

How do you guys post pics in the text body, without an attachment link?

If you use an online photosharing website like photobucket or flick'r, you cut and paste some code from photobucket to TB.

Also, useful for online advertising.

Mdvaden I always love your pics the quality and clarity is unbelievable. When you look at your photos you feel like you are right there. If you ever come out with a calendar I’m buying it. I know I asked you this last year but what camera and lens are you using?

Quite a few photos were taken with a Canon SX10 IS. Its a big point and shoot with good quality. Had it a little over a year. They are up to the SX30 right now, with 30x optical zoom.

I just got a Canon Rebel T2i / 550D DSLR a couple of months ago. And got several lenses for it. Have barely used it in the redwoods yet. And its a big learning curve.

Just picked up a Tokina 12-24mm Ultra Wide Angle lens for it. Plus a 10-17mm Fisheye lense too. Both of which I hope to take to the redwoods. Probably won't use the fisheye much for the trees. But maybe for slugs, some plants, and some places along the way.

The depth of field and focus is what I need to really work on with the new camera. It was easier with the other camera. But I will be using both of them anyway. The new one is not a replacement, but an addition.

The new camera and lenses basically nudged me to learn more about what I'm using. It feels sort of like when I got my first computer.

Here's one of the more crisp images taken with the Canon T2i and the 12-24mm lens.

The dinosaur skeleton (Samson) is 39 feet long, 15 feet tall.

I defiantly need to invest in a good camera; the one we use is an older digital style that just seems to be horrible for landscape pictures. It’s either to dark in the background or to light in the for ground.
Beautiful pictures keep them coming

I will defiantly get a hold of you next time I’m in Maui, might be awhile though. I would love to climb one of those mango trees you were talking about that would be awesome. I have to say the road to Hanna was probably my favorite part of Maui. We followed the revealed books that you can buy to find cool things to do on the island. The cool thing about the road to Hanna is if you want to be laid back and just look at the scenery from your car you can. Or you could be more adventurous like my wife and i and hike for hours to get to a water fall where there is nobody in site.
Awesome trip defiantly going back someday.
i'll post some cool pics from that tonight
