Here's a look at the new base for the climbing tree. This is a solid work in iron. When Ken Johnson, the manufacturer of the Hobbs/Lowering device looked at the weldment he was impressed too. He admired the welding and quality of the workmanship. There were many really cagey things that are incorporated into the base. Much better than the lumber one that had been used in the past.

After putting in a hard day setting up the display booth Rob and Terry from Fresco along with the crew from Hendrickson Tree Care [the "other HTC' ] from KC and I headed down to the Elevator for dinner.

The Elevator has been around since the late 1800's. The stained glass is original. When the glass needs cleaning they have to use a damp sponge to wipe off each piece because the leaded joints aren't waterproof. Very Pretty!

Frans aka Snarf, gave me a special bottle of GRCS wine.

The wine is tasty and went well with the salmon on Saturday night, thanks Frans!

Wed. was the unofficial Treebuzz day at the climbing tree. Believe me, Mark and I didn't plan this, it's jsut the way things worked out when the cards got shuffled.

Mark did the demo climbs for the student competition. There were students there from a lot of schools. I think about 30 competed.

I gave my camera to a friend who took a picture of a couple of Wisconsin monkeys...Mike Wendt on the left and Lance Wallace on the right.
