I've heard tale of such things happening!

I have to walk like festus haggin to avoid dulling my tree gaffs when I'm wearing them on the ground!

hahah um why are you wearing your spurs on the ground jim? you put them on to go up take them off when you come down then put your gaff covers on should be no reason why your gaffs get dull except for nails and other unaviodable situations thats just laziness

Golly Hollenreich, the truth is I've never drawn blood on either foot or leg in over 35 years now of wearing gaffs.

Like I said though, I've heard tale of that very thing happening to many other climbers.

Knicked boots? Yes, I've done that a few times though!
