espalier pruning

Fire thorn, apple, blue atlas cedar, and a southern magnolia are the ones I've worked with. Firethorn being my least favorite.

looking great easy. BTW i have windows 8 or as i like to say windows hate, it is not user friendly at all. very sorry about the mix up earlier! your mags look like they are on the right track. some really great looking trees on the link. thank you for sharing man.

one thing i have been wondering about espalier pruning is if you have a branch running along your plane lets say you are using wire how do you prevent the tree branch or tree from encapsulating the wireor object? i would think you would move your restraints around from time to time or am i just way off in my thinking?

You are correct. If the espalier is yours, you should be checking and adjusting the anchor points two or three times a year. The clients I work with usually have me out at least once a year.
I like to use small eye screws, and landscape tape (it's green and somewhat stretchy, not sticky). The last round on that little gem, I used zip ties. Very easy to change out when needed.

I agree with easy
Check your trees on a regular basis and retie as needed. We have quite a lot of espalier trees in our area and clients have us to their homes at least once a year most have us twice.
