Escalator for wrenching your thoughts

Alright, as I suspected, no official position can be had. Problem is that there are too many variables. Can you use it? Sure. Will the rope hold up...Most likely. Do you want to sustain a fall on this rope (or any static line) no way! If you climb with the best management of slack as your primary concern then you should be fine. If you leave a potential for a fall anytime you climb, then I would use another line like kmIII or something similar.

Thanks Mark for getting right on top of this. This is what I have thought, if you keep slack out of the system then its a non issue. If you are going to put yourself in the position to take a giant whipper then this is not a great choice. Thanks again for looking into it so quick.

Mark,

Why basal vs canopy in your opinion? (which I highly value!) More line in system? No "hot spot" or tight bend radius at canopy anchor? (depending on method used). Im sure I can think of a million reasons but wondering what you had in mind? I gota get to work................

That's the great thing about SRT there should be no bad rope angles for big falls, with all the redirecting possibilities...just keep redirecting....

:D
Hahaha. It's all good. Riggsy is allowed to bust on me. He's cool in my book. He earned that right after a year and a half of putting up with me and more importantly my brother! I just have to give it right back to him.

Hehehe! :p Good to hear you guys are still working together. If Riggsy's anything like Riggs Sr., he's cool in my book. … Jake, got a spot on my crew here in CA if those guys give you any trouble.;)

Escalator was the first rope I ever singled on, a huge difference from say Poision Ivy. I never noticed an issue wrenching with it. Now we use it as a winch line, it's great for that too.
