Epic VA Treemek Build

On the pic with the pine top...why is the middle jib section only party out and the next 2 out? I thought they were supposed to sequence fully from large to small?

Not all jibs have sequencing valves. If mine got out of sequence I would run them in and back out, usually “fixing” the “problem.”

Steve,
Yes it is nice to have an LMI that reads exact numbers....but the more you use your crane the less you will be looking at that LMI. When I first started with the crane I looked at it all the time....now I go almost entirely on feel. I still have the LMI for reference or a beep to let me know if I'm off. But I can tell a ton by just how the boom flexes. Just start off slow and with little picks.

Wow. Its been about a week since i've done anything on social media. Felt good. I have to say I am busy and blessed. What a great week. Learned a ton of stuff about the truck, the crane, and myself. Had Rick Yoos down and that's always a pleasure. Training went well for sure. Every day I get a little better and a little quicker. We crushed a job on thursday several other tree services walked away from. The great news is I am booked through the first week of April. I think this crazy idea might actually work out. The biggest 2 things I need to work on now are stopping to eat something for lunch and working on finding that balance so i'm not home at 7pm every night.

Glad its all working out. Ditto on the forget getting home by 7 every day. I have had a monumentally shit start to my year and for the first time even started considering trying to go work for someone else due to stress levels! welcome to business ownership...

That being said we have very different business models and yours is designed for less stress other than the overhead

Are you using the same pricing model that you showed here before? I thought based on those prices you would need over 6 days to cover each month.

Good job, Steve. I eat the snot out of 'bars'. On the go, fits in the pocket.
I unfortunately waste too much fresh food when I pack a good lunch.

Gotta keep your blood sugar up, as I've heard your brain uses 20 % of your calories (ymmv, haha).

Shit, Paul, sorry to hear. Maybe you need a business manager???
Easier to outsource personal domestic duties, in or outside of the house, than business stuff. Anytime I find myself cleaning my truck or 'yard', mowing my grass, etc, I ask, can I outsource this?
Weird to me, growing up working class, but much more economical for someone else to fold the laundry, take out garbage, scrub the toilet, etc, while I'm working in business management.

There are many people who are not professional chefs, who have fed people for decades. A retired person could be great. My nanny starts dinner. My daughter is only 6, so early to bed.

Imagine rolling home, and having a hot dinner for you and your kid, ready to go, and lunches packed.
Leftovers would be great.

Dinner cooked, and a crock pot filled, and in the fridge for starting in the morning.

Muffin tins frittatas freeze and heat well.

Steve, that kit is looking sweet! Congratulations!

I'd like to hear more discussion from others about the pros/cons of cab mount vs. rear mount, especially in regard to those that haul material away from job sites. I totally understand all your points about choosing the rear mount, but something says that dumping capabilities might be nice.

I guess it all depends on individual markets. I know some business owners in the middle of the country that run larger rear mount grapple trucks that do not dump. It's always a give and take...

Anyway, I'm wishing you a rock solid '18. Might as well wish you one too, @pctree !
