History is full of that kind of evil. Slavery, the Holocaust, Jim Crow, blacks have lower IQ's than us white folk, and so on and so forth.

To clarify: I don’t believe there is anything we can do about it. Unless you’d like to go back to living on dirt floors, growing your own crops and milking a goat for dinner. That is, living like it’s 1850. Because that’s pretty much what it would take to reverse the effects that you clearly lose sleep over.

And not just us. EVERY NATION. Lol. Good luck convincing China, Brazil, India, Russia, and the Middle East to give up any hope of progressing technologically or economically and even coming close to equaling our standard of living. Pretty sure they won’t mind being told to give up their selfish, self-destructive dreams of owning car or using electricity derived from coal. And no air conditioning. Or steak. Or hair spray.

I bet for every American Prius owner there are 5000 Chinese who have just recently become wealthy enough to buy their first car. And they ain’t electric. These people just want what we have. And we’re gonna tell them they can’t have it? I just can’t see multi-century global cooperation to reduce our collective standard of life as being a real possibility.

I loose zero sleep (8-10 every night) over this shit because the wife and I do our little part to try and make a difference. This lifestyle has brought no inconvenience to our lives, and to the contrary has brought us pride and joy. Growing as much of our own food as we can, including goats for dairy and a critter or 2 for meat. No more expensive utility bills. Living, working and acting locally. All good things.

In the end what we are doing might not make any difference, but at least were making the effort. Its a shame you and yours can't be bothered!

The wife and I were having our morning cup and chatting about your latest posts. She had a great observation.

Why is it that so many American men are so disconnected from their innate manhood, and the physical world that they choose to project themselves through big trucks and giant tires, way too many guns, and their own little game of chicken with the future of our planet? While your going down that road you might as well defend the entitled privilege white man over the assaulted woman of America. Seem appropriate.

@rico : first, realize that most of my last post was over-the-top silliness just to make a point. I actually drive a V-6, and don’t even own a V-10. Also, my wife giggles and is generally unimpressed when I “insist” that she do anything. And she has never used hairspray.

Look, I think the way you live is great. If I had more land I might raise some food myself. I think it’s a damn good idea to be as self-sufficient as
possible. And what little I know of you from Treebuzz makes you seem like an impressive guy. I don’t think I could’ve gone to Alaska at such a young age and made something of myself.

My point was simply that I think it will take hundreds of years if not more to reverse what seems to be a trend. These hundreds of years will require multinational cooperation, trillions of dollars (taken from us and given to Third World countries) and a generally lower standard of living. That’s a tough sell.

My testosterone levels are through the roof. Thank you for your concern.
 
Wait, who thinks its not a good idea to be self sufficient? Must have missed that. I haven’t bought meat at the store for years. Deer, rabbit and squirrels for me. When I need my bacon fix I head to my parents.

I understood that your post was intended to be over the top and not taken too seriously.
My wife's observation and my man boobs/testosterone comment was not pointed at you directly, but more of a generalization of what seems to be a melting down of the modern American male, and how they are dealing with it.

I totally agree that it would take the entire world to turn around our weather change issue, but I feel that we don't really have a choice at this point. I also am fairly pessimistic that we will be able to do much, and it might just be too late anywho. I believe it would actually create an economic and technological boom if the world would come together and tackle this issue, but we are dealing with the human species so I'm sure we will manage to fuck it up.

I do enjoy mixing it up with you Buck, and please don't take my rants to seriously. I just love stirring up shit!
