Cutting firewood with your grandpa when you were younger does not constitute the ability or knowledge to operate a chainsaw!
That’s my favorite line I came up with for when I get the random “I want a job call”.
I do try to work with people who have good work ethic and willing to learn.
I show them a few knots and send links to videos for them to learn how to tie them.
Usually, within the week, they demonstrate them openly without having to be asked to demonstrate.
If a week goes by and they haven’t sat aside that little bit of time and effort to learn something as simple as a few knots, they can go their way.
