Friends of mine just started a radio station in Ely. This is the western jumping off point for access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. If you haven't been there, you've missed out on a wonderful wilderness experience.

I've always wanted to check out Ely, having learned some about it through the Wolf Center there, and through reading Will Stegers books.."North to the Pole" is a great book, especially if you love dogs.

I havent been to Ely. But I have been up into the boundry waters off of the Gun Flint Trail. I have also been into the Quetico National Park, which is the Canadian side of the boundry waters.

I agree Tom, if you havent been there, you are missing out!
